For who?

Parents/guardians of young autistic children or parents/guardians who are worried about their child's social communication. As a parent/guardian you may be wondering what you can do to make communication easier and more enjoyable for your child. You may want to help your child connect more easily with others, have more fun during interactions, or experience less frustration.

The Program  

At a More Than Words Program, you’ll learn:

✓ How your child communicates right now and the next steps to take;

✓ How to identify and include your child’s sensory preferences in fun engaging activities;

✓ How child led play leads to fun back-and-forth interactions;

✓ How to turn everyday activities into opportunities to support your child’s communication;

✓ How to help your child understand what you say;

✓ How to join in on your child’s favourite things to do and help them develop their communication skills while having fun together.

The program contains of 6 group sessions and 4 home visits, covering a period of approximately 4 months. The first home visit will take place before the first group session. Filming the interaction and analysing these moments together is an important part of the program. As well as sharing with and learning from other parents.
